Disabling the 'Half-Screen' settings mode on Sony KD43XE8005 (2017)

With the nougat update I now see TV programmes in a half screen mode when I select 'Settings' and TV programmes also run in the background on the home scren. This is really annoying. When I am changing settings I don't want to be distracted by a TV programme running to the left of them.

How can I disable the 'half screen' mode that nougat introduced?
