Just got a Sony Android TV.

Can anybody enlighten me as to how I can create a google account so I can use the tv features without having to provide a mobile phone number for verification?

Some people have said they get an option to bypass the phone verification but I have never seen this even having tried different browsers and connections.

OK I have sorted this.

on the account creation page I set the language to German (I was trying to create the account in English)

this allowed me to create the account without the use of a mobile number - came up as optional).

you can set the language in the interface back to English after.
