Software not updating

I have a Sony KD-49X8307C which has a current software :2.287, I tried to update it to 5.381, I downloaded the software onto USB and inserted it into the tv, it shows a screen with "System software update" and a progress bar that only goes to about 60% then the tv shuts down and restarts but the old software is still there.

What could be wrong?

I have also tried a software update via wifi in the tv update menu itself, again it starts to download but as it gets to about 50% I get an error saying "an error occured during system software update. The server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error: (2123)"

Ive tried this for several days now but still get the same error.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

As you're unable to update the TV, I would recommend you perform a factory reset.

Press the HOME button on the remote.
Select Settings.
Select Customer Support.
Select Factory Settings.
Select Yes.
Select Yes.
