SONY KDL - 50W756C Screen Faulty

I was wondering if anybody had any advice. I have a 2 year old SONY KDL - 50W756C bought from Curry's. Initially the screen out of the blue had a problem in the bottom right hand corner, became very hot and looked like this:bottom right

Now the screen has totally stopped working. I have been told that this is the screen and is not repairable by local TV repair people.

This item has a 12 month warranty from Curry's however I think it is unacceptable that a TV should last less than 3 years!

Does anybody have any advice?
