I just got an E5 and I have a Smart TV KDL-40W655D, and when I go to settings and "Cast" on the phone it only shows the option on the description about Chromecast, but not miracast, and set the TV on Screen Mirroring mode but the phone will never detect the TV. I had a Sony T something (sorry do not remember the full model) but it had the options on settings > Xperia connectivity > screen mirroring and all was working good. This one does not have the Xperia connectivity menu. Am I missing something ? 😕 thanks!

Hi @OSvasas, I'm afraid that Xperia E5 does not support Miracast according to the white paper, but as an example, Xperia T3 does if you look at Page 7 under Connectivity. If your TV require Miracast support, then I'm sorry to say that it is not compatible with your Xperia E5.

ahhh that's not good, I thought I did an upgrade there :c, and there is no way to make it work? not even with a third party app or something? If not, thanks anyways!

I am not familiar with the specific TV model, but as you say there may be some third party apps which let you connect to your TV using your Xperia E5, but I can't suggest anything specific as I have not tried it. However, I'm afraid that to my knowledge there is no way to mirror your device using Miracast if there's no Miracast support in the specific device.

Hello again! sorry for insisting, it is clear that I cannot use Miracast with the Xperia E5, however I was checking under the settings there is a Media Server option that I thought it should be compatible with my TV. I manually registered the Xperia to my TV by entering the WPA password of the TV, but, how can I make it work? Like, how can I at least share pictures and videos to my TV? I found this link http://support.sonymobile.com/ie/xperiae5/userguide/Using-the-Connected-devices-feature-to-share-files/.

I am following the instructions to Share a video, I opened the Video App and selected the icon on the top-left corner, home network, but it only shows the phone itself, it will not detect the TV, which my PC at least can do (for the same purpose, to share videos and pictures already downloaded) , but the cellphone will never detect the TV. I mean, both are Sony, somehow they should be compatible. Am I doing something wrong? I even tried to directly connect the Xperia to the WiFi's TV and still won't detect it.
