Thank you for replying. When I am looking around at headphones, I have yet to see any mention of OMTP or CTIA. Take, for instance, these Sony headphones that give the spec as -

Sony MH-EX300AP Make phone calls and listen to Music Sensitivity (db): 105dB/mW Magnet: Neodymium (440kJ/m3) for outstanding bass performance in a small driver Plug: L shaped stereo mini plug Impedance: 16 ohms at 1kHz

Am I right in thiniking that any headphones that don't include a mic are ok ?

Thank you.

So, the E3 doesn't come with any headphones. I have the headphones that came with my Xperia Ray, but they only worked once, now the phone plays the music whether the headphones are plugged in or not, and nothing comes out of the headphones.

I understand that Headsets aren't compatable between the two phones, is there a reason that these headphones aren't compatable ? I have found a very cheap old pair of headphones and they work ok.

If it is a compatability problem, what spec do I need to buy for the Xperia E3. Thanks.

You could buy any of the sony headsets or headphones, theoretically they should work.

If I am buying earphones that will only "theoretically work", I'd buy a much cheaper set. Thanks anyway. Found a great Nokia set that works anyway.
