Help: Official Sony Xperia 1 Cover question

Quick question, I purchased this case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RTY5LYW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on Amazon about a week and a half ago.

When it got here I put it on my phone and I can't help but notice that the front transparent cover has an open slit for the speaker and a hole for the camera, however, the hole for the front camera does not line up with the camera at all, in fact, it blocks the camera entirely so I have to keep the cover open to take selfies and it makes things sort of inconvenient... is this normal? This cover was really expensive and I'm just wondering if I got a defective one. Luckily the opening on the back of the cover does line up with the 3 cameras perfectly.

It would be nice to be able to take selfies with the front camera while the cover is closed, I don't understand the purpose of having a hole for the camera on the front cover when it's serving no purpose. Is this how the front part of the cover is supposed to be, an error or was I jipped?

When purchasing it, the description says I'm able to use all the phones features, but that's not accurate considering the front camera becomes blocked.

The hole is actually not for the front camera but for the ambient light sensor. I too thought it was for the camera up until now that I checked.

They probably decided that since the cover is frosted and blurs the display, it would be hard to judge how a selfie will turn out with the cover closed, and the camera wouldn't need a cutout.

Just as @Zacabeb pointed out, there is no opening for the front camera and to be honest with you, I have no idea why this is the case. It is at least not a defect, so there is nothing wrong with your cover.

Regarding that it says that you can use all the phone features, this is hard for me to comment on as the text is from Amazons website and not ours.
