Sometimes I don't receive messages

Sometimes, if i leave my phone for a bit (5-10 minutes) I stop receiving messages from apps like whatsapp or kik or 9chat. Then i have to check the app myself by opening it and waiting for like 1 min, then i suddenly receive all the messages. Is there anyway to fix this?

Do you have stamina mode on? if you do, that's the reason you don't receive the messages.

Go to Settings -> WiF- -> Tap on 3 dots on upper right corner and choose Advanced -> Keep WiFi on during sleep -> Set to Always.
