Replacement remote for CMT-FX250

So this morning, we discovered that the remote control for this system has suffered battery leakage and doesn't work properly anymore. (Anyone who says "should have used Duracell" in response -- we did.)

New batteries and a bit of a clean have restored most of the functionality but the controls over the battery compartment are dead.

After some online research I have discovered very little in the way of replacement availability, including directly from Sony.

So I guess I have three choices: cope with it as it is, try to strip it down and see if I can do anything inside (unlikely and scary bit it's a possibility) or see if there's a compatible remote out there.
