Do I need a lens ring mount for a6500 and 70/300 lens?

I have varying opinions on whether I need a ring mount for this heavy lens while using it on a tripod with my a6500. Can anyone please give me advice as I have been told that I need the novaflex astat-nex and at £75 I don't want to make a costly mistake if I don't need it.

Hi,

Don't think that you need an additional ring mount. Usually a ring mount is supplied when needed e.g. https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/camera-lenses/sel70200g.

In addition I guess that there's not much room on the 70300 lens where you can attach a ring mount.

Thank you so much for answering my question.
It's just that the lens feels pretty heavy for the a6500 and I feel it puts a lot of pressure on the body when the camera is mounted on a tripod
