Touch screen not installed?

VIAO model SVF1521C2EW model number 54584199 running Windows 8.1 64bit.

Help needed for elderly friends of mine with information if this model has a touch screen a label on the screen frame states it is a touch screen. They tell me that they remember having used the touch screen before but when I look in Windows Control Panel System it states ‘No pen or touch input is available on this display’ and in Device Manager in Human Interface Devices there is no HID-compliant touch screen entry!

So my question is do these models have a touch screen?

And if so how can I download the necessary driver to install it so that the touch screen can be used?

Hi Scorpio.

If if you go to the Sony Support page for this model, the specifications do list a touch screen:

All the available drivers and updates are listed under ‘Downloads’ on the same web page.

Have you checked ‘Other Devices’ and Hidden Devices?

Hi Blencogo,

Thankyou for your reply and suggestions.

I did not checked Other Devices or Hidden devices but I will do the next time I visit the elderly couple.

I notice that there are no specific driver named Touch Screen in the support page https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/laptop-pc-svf-series/svf1521c2e?downloads-num=96! I will try and install the EP0000601137.exe which is the only driver with the name Touch in the title and was released on the 2/4/2014 which is near the date that all other drivers installed on this pc seem to have been installed as when they bought the Notebook.

If the above does not work I will then try the TouchPad Driver (Windows 8 64bit) in the link https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/downloads/Z0005749 but this one seems to be for the SV and not for SVF computers as warned so I am a bit reluctant to do so;

Do not install this utility with any other model of computer (including other Sony computers sold worldwide).

I will post back with the results.
