Hello makazio98,

let's first check if it is really a hardware problem:

Shut down your VAIO if it is powered up

Start the computer by pressing the power button once

Press the F2 key repeatedly when you see the VAIO logo on the screen to enter the BIOS

If you can see the lines in the BIOS, it's a hardware problem. If not, it's software.

If it's hardware, it could be relatively minor - damage to the cable between the mainboard and the display - or major - damage to the display or the graphics chip.

Please note, that for a few VAIO models, there is a known issue with the NVIDIA graphics chip, see:

http://genesis.sony-europe.com/instranet/ccil_sony/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=53420&l=en_GB

Note: that this is only applicable to the models listed there, it doesn't apply to earlier or later models or other Series.

If your model is listed in the document I linked, contact service. For this particular problem, warranty claims are extended beyond the intial timeframe.

If your model isn't listed in the document, your notebook could be a total economical loss, since the replacement of either the mainboard or the display will almost for sure exceed the value of the unit and won't be economical compared with the purchase price of a new system.
