I have a SONY VAIO VGN-A497XP laptop and the hard drive is full. I have a new hard drive to replace but no idea how to transfer the data across as I have never done it before. Not even done a back up. Not really computer lit I'm afraid. Do I use the disks and do a complete reinstall after replacing the drive? or do I do an image or something. Not sure.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please send me a Private Message with your email address and I will send you the disassembly instructions. Please give your Vaio model number if this is different from the one in the header of this discussion.
