HOW CAN I FIX MY INTEGRATED PLAYER?

Hi!

I was removing some unnecessary software from my sony-vajo pcg-k215b.
Since then unfortunately F: is no longer recognized when trying to run a cd or dvd.
I guess somehow the driver has been deleted.
Can I download it somewhere? Well, the preinstalled folder "drivers" seems to be okay.
Does the error locate to "sony stage" or "the vajo media server"?
I have a back up cd, which was originally part of my vajo desktop, could I use this one for a new installation. But what program runs the integrated player/burner?

Hi christopherid,

Start -> Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager

Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Is there a yellow warning against your drive? Double click on the drive - is there an Error Code? If yes, what is the error code?

Hi Blencogo!

Yes, there is a yellow warning against my drive PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D,
and an error code, which is "Code 39". I´ve just found it.
So what can I do now?
Though I have yet experienced such a problem concerning the host-controller
I just don´t remember what I have been doing then.
An update? Thanx for your support.

After de- and reinstalling the driver, I got across a certain "Fix it" at the Windows page.
It is there to repair various troubles of the dvd/cd-rom drive after unspecific software changes. And it looks like it has worked.
Again thanx for your hint, to look out for the listed actions of the device manager, which was giving me the right direction.

That's great Christopherid.

There is a manual fix for your problem which involves deleting the upperfilters and lowerfilters to clear an Error 39.

If you get the problem again come back and I can give you the fix.
