CD drives do not go out of date nor do drivers or firmware, although updates do provide additional functionality.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;First thing to try is uninstalling the drive using Device Manager and then re-boot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If this has no effect then clean the laser lens with a propriety cleaner.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If none of the above works then the drive may be faulty. A replacement drive should cost no more than £50 but fitting the face plate may prove a problem unless the replacement drive is from the same series as the one that is currently fitted.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;i have a sony vaio VGN-A517B&lt;BR /&gt;had it some years&lt;BR /&gt;all of a sudden it never been able to record dvd,s in the F DRIVE&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;running a "detective"&lt;BR /&gt;it has told me that the drive is "out of date"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;what do i do ??????&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
