Horizontal lines on screen. Vaio stops working

I have a sony Vaio which is 6 months old and recently it started to show horizontal lines on the screen which after some time freeze the screen and start to turn the sreec dark blue into brown as if a burnt image.In order to continue I will have to swithc off the unit from the power button.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem?

Hi chrismanan,

welcome to Club VAIO..

Try connecting your Vaio to an external monitor, do you still have the same problem.?

Do you get the same lines when in safe mode.?

To enter safe mode restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F8 key repeatedly..

Do you get the same problem in the BIOS

To enter the BIOS restart your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F2 key repeatedly..

To exit the BIOS press F9 to reset the BIOS to default and press F10 to save and exit..

Thanks for your advice. actually I did try all of the mentioned options except for attaching an external monitor.Below are some photos that show what the screen looks like. Has anyone ever seen this?

Seems like to be an hardware problem. You should call the VAIO-Link support asap since your laptop is still in warranty. you can find the contacts here: www.vaio-link.com
