Vaio VGN-NR32L/S
Vista Home Premium
Norton Internet Security 2009 + a few other start-up programs

This update automatically downloaded and installed overnight but didn't demand a reboot.
The NEXT time I booted my computer the Wireless adapter switched off at the final part of boot-up. I tried absolutely everything to fix
Yes the switch WAS on and device manager said it was ok and enabled but Windows told me that wireless connectivity was switched off. It DID stay ON under safe boot with networking.
Resorted to a USB adapter to research further.
Eventually opted to uninstall this cumulative update and bingo the inbuilt adapter was restored to full working order.

May be of help to someone.

I HAVE had this sort of problem before and used system restore which worked. Whatever then re-installed automatically from Microsoft didn't cause the problem 2nd time around.
If anyone knows of a registry fix for the future I'm sure that would be a quicker way.
