Has anyone had a hinge break on their laptop?

I have an AR41m which was purchased 2 years ago with an extended warranty. I recentky attempted to open it and something happened to the right hinge. The plstic cover now splits open as if something is pushing against it whn being opened.
I contacted Sony support by e-mail at first but after 2 weeks of no response, 3 duplicated responses asking for my details and promises of conact broken, I called and got through to someone only to be told its not covered.

I want to know if anyone else had had a hinge problem and if Siny rectified it.

I can't recall any posts reporting a broken hinge on an AR..

....I can't either, but I have two other Vaio notebooks with broken right hand hinges. Coincidence?

I'm not just looking for Ar's with hinge problems but any Vaio.

Did they get fixed under warranty?

How old when the hinge broke?

No, both machines were out of warranty.

How old when the hinge broke?

Approximately 4 years old.
