vaio shutting down in normal mode

i have a problem with my vaio, everytime i try to start it when connected to the internet it shuts itself down. it will open in safe mode with networking and i can use it (limited) there and the internet. someone tells me it is to do with a explorer 8 update but i can't figure it out. i have tried system backups but nothing seems to help. any ideas?

Try opening Internet Explorer by right-clicking on it and choosing 'Open Without Add-Ons'. If that fixes the problem try disabling the Add-Ons one by one to see what is causing the problem. To do this in IE choose Tools -> Manage Add-Ons and disable all the Toolbars first.

Have you installed IE8 yourself? If so you can ununstall it from Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> View Installed Updates -> Choose IE8 from the list -> Uninstall -> Yes

This will leave the previous version installed (IE7).
