Maybe a known issue - Had this on a few Sony laptops with the Netgear

In Control Panel>Network Connections>
Right click on the wireless connection>properties
Then click on the Authentication tab

Do you have "Enable IEEE 802.1....etc" Ticked?
If so, untick it and try this again.

Failing this, you may need to remove the connection altogether from the wireless>advanced settings area and re-scan>add>enter password - just incase the name or password changed

PS: if the IEEE works, and you want it ticked, from memory, it might be a simple driver upgrade to solve it but generally, we just left it unchecked

Hi Carl.

Welcome to Club Vaio.

It could be a lot of things! It is possible your version of XP is too old to have generic support for the WiFi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) protocol.

Try downloading this Hotfix to update your version of Windows: -

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=662BB74D-E7C1-48D6-95EE-1459234F4483&displaylang=en

If that doesn't work, come back and we can try something else. Have you looked for an updated driver for your Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 wireless card?
