I would SO avoid overclocking in a laptop, you're creating extra heat which can only shorten the lifespan of your VAIO

Do it at your own risk, but Sony won't support it

Hello,

I know these are not gaming laptops but the 6400 Go does seem to have some limited punch in it and it seems to run any game I play at the moment in medium spec which is good enough for me

My question is how safe would it be to overclock the laptop Graphics card for future games?

At the moment the 6400 Go is running at 400/700 core/memory. I have used the Tweek's R us MobileForce XG drivers and overclocked the card to 450/800, now everything is running smoothly and I have no dodgy displays issues and no blue screen memory dumbs etc.

Would you guys say that this is ok or is it a no no and I should return to default, id really not want to put my laptop under excess heating issues as I dont have £1000 lieing around to buy a new laptop if this one goes wrong!

Thanks for your replys!

Adam

I wouldnt take it higher as you proberly only have passive cooling,ie-no fan just heatsink.I cant see any reason not to tweak your system as long as you know its at your own risk and that your hardware will have limitations with been notebook hardware.Decent overclock anyway.

Buy one of those laptop cooler contraptions here and make sure the room is less likely to be dusty and hot but don't overclock it anymore or you will fry it as franny points out. As it is you will reduce the life of the lappie by months:smileysad:
