Thanks rooobb. However, I'm sorry but I didn't understand your last sentence.

What is a "DLNA app"? Where would I find one? Is the DLNA app installed on the iPad or on the TV? And can you give me an example of a DLNA app?

And what is meant by "share your library"? Does this, for example, mean that I could display photos, stored in a library on my iPad, on the TV screen?

My new Sony TV has Direct Wi-Fi switched on. When I look at the Wi-Fi Settings on my iPad, I can see its Wi-Fi network with the name DIRECT-Lr-BRAVIA. Am I able to connect to the network from my iPad? Do I need a password and, if so, where do I find it? And what would I be able to do if my iPad did connect to the TV’s Wi-Fi network?

You can find the password in the manual setting of the WIFI direct menu of the TV, but unfortunately you can't do nothing with your Ipad: Apple product are designed to share content only to Apple TV. You can still share your library via a DLNA app to be installed on it.

Hi there

Have a look at the following thread, as it may have more information:

http://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/ipad-and-iphone-connection-to-kdl60w605b/m-p/1801109

DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) - is simply a set of industry standards that connects various pieces of equipment to one another. Unfortunately it doesnt always work, as sometimes companies implement thier own standards. However applications (apps) can be used as a way to bridge this gap - at least in theory.

One of these apps is iMediaShare. This allows you to share media (ie photos, videos etc) from your ipad/iphone to another network device (DLNA). See : https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34421

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Thank you Quinnicus. Your reply has now given me enough to go on.

(For some reason, even though I had marked my previous reply as "EMAIL ME WHEN SOMEONE REPLIES", I didn't receive an email to inform me that you had replied. I expect this is a glitch on the Sony Community Web site.)

Your welcome.

In regards to the "email replies" I suspect this is a glitch too - I remember a conversation on another thread yesterday about this - so it looks like its not just you.
