Installing a NOW smartstick

I have a Bravia KDL26EX smart tv without ITV player on it so I would

like to instal a NOW smartstick. Has anyone got a fullproof method

of installing this so that there is no confusion about which handset

controls what. Although I can get NOW TV working I cant seem to control

which handset switches the TV on and off and cant get access to the internet.

Sometimes the TV comes on but I have lost

internet control. BBC one sometimes comes and goes and when I press

the HOME button, nothing happens. Appreciate a fullproof method here

of keeping TV separate from NOW TV access.
