Tuning a KDL-32W706B to digital channels

I have had a TV for a while but connected to BT Vision, so we move the vision box downstairs after cancelling sky. So I went to tune the TV in to the normal digital/analogue channels but it does not find any BBC, ITV etc channels. I have tried various things but nothing comes up. Am I doing something wrong?
