A6000 with Tamron B011 18/200 mm. question

Hi. Short question. Do I need some sort of firmware for using this lens? It works fine but when I look in the "version" tab, I only get the camera version (firmware update), and not even a field for lens.... Is this normal? Please help me/    Sebastian

Hi sebastianpons,

As far as I know, the functionality of non-Sony lenses is not guaranteed with Sony cameras, so there isn't really a dedicated software to install for the Tamron you have.

That being said, it's always best to ensure the camera is up to date anyway.

Thank you for your answer. I understand, but I've read somewere that tamron and sony (the 18/200 mm.) are the same lens with different brand name. So now I'm asking myself if it would be possible to install the sony 18/200 firmware to "force" the camera to recognize the lens.

As it is now, there is not mention of a lens in the version check, neither it shows in the exif file of a picture taken with it.

Any help/thoughts will be greatly apreciated.
