I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
Whoopie...A win... thanks for that Quinnicus, hopefully they will realise you cant censor the truth.
I look forward to seeing it if I can remember where it will be posted! 😉

At last... so they are listening... but only if you get involved Quinnicus.
Nice picture sadly let down by the user interface.

It is a nice looking TV with a great picture, even when in SD mode and the upscale on it is great. The screen is good with all colours and the blacks are actually black which is nice.screen is good. There are plenty of adjustments on ...it for the picture and in all I think this is probably the best TV picture I have seen in recent years. The 3D is good with nice depth to it, but sadly you do not get any glasses and they expensive to buy (Sony wont allow me to tell you how much the glasses are so I cant but just look online and you will see) they are also hard to find, why not put this fact on the box that there are no glasses, such a disappointment, there is a bit of crossover too, maybe this can be sorted in a future update... how about it Sony? It is a real shame that there is no 2D to 3D conversion on it too which was suggested on many sites when I looked to buy it, sadly I did not find out this until I tired. My Sony Blu-Ray player does allow that on DVD's and non 3D Blu-Ray discs and when in operation its looks okay, but it will not do it for live TV which is a bit of a downer. It is sadly let down by the Android interface and is a very sluggish in operation, sometimes taking 20 seconds or more to change channels, this is not really acceptable for a modern TV, it makes you feel frustrated when you press the channel change and it sits there doing nothing. At the moment it cannot record from YouView onto a HDD, the advertising said this facility was coming but no signs of happening. The YouView interface, which has only just become operational from a recent update, is slow and disappointing, also there is no way to set the TV to record from a timer which again is disappointing, I hear that a future update is going to possibly bring this facility to the TV but we shall see. I also found that the satellite connections have been disabled if you view YouView, why it was working before the update so why are you selling a TV with a feature then remove it? I don't understand the logic and this is a reason why the TV maybe going back on top of all the other problems I am having with it. The supplied free sound bar sadly blocks the remote control for the TV when placed in front of it, good design there, so that has gone to a different TV. I have since put the TV through my surround systems which sounds fantastic but has some sync problems, why? The actual TV sound is okay but nothing to write home about though so I don't understand how they can say its good in their advertising? I am still getting used to the TV and find that I have to on quite a few occasions reboot it as it locks up, which is not very good considering Sony is supposed to be a premium brand, I realise that this is due to the operating system but its just not good enough really, I do wonder if the TV CPU is under powered and cannot cope, is this true Sony? The TV also turns itself back on when you switch it off, rather annoying and an expensive mistake as electricity is not cheap these days. I have also found that when you do turn if off and the screen goes off the sound continues, what's that all about? I am sure that updates to it will help out or sadly maybe introduce more bugs and issues and I hope Sony continues to give updates for it and not leave it on the scrapheap when future updated models are released. In all I am a bit disappointed in paying a grand on a TV that is clearly not ready for release and is leaving many of its owners frustrated. Will I buy again from Sony I ask myself? If this experience is to go by probably not, unless of course the updates solve the problems this TV really suffers from which I am starting to think may never be solved. Maybe its time to cut my losses and return it, life's just too short without trying to watch a TV that refuses to do what its asked to do. Marks out of 10: Sadly only a 3 (Update: was 4 now down to 3 after finding more issues) Conclusion: A TV with massive amounts of problems, my advice, don't buy. P.S. Sony you are more than welcome to call me and we can discuss my returning it to the store with your blessing so the store does not give me grief.
Well done...
There are so many negative reviews and ratings, they should be ashamed for betraying our trust and hard earned money. I wonder if Sony will act responsibly like the famous “It’s a Sony” brand, some managers should go home for good!
One thing that really makes furious, is when I visited a Sony store last week to buy the wall mount su-wl450. When I started aksing the guy about the Android TV issues, he replied with an attitude that there are no issues and the tv's are rock solid..! I was about to hit his head on every 4k screen in the store but I decided to behave, grabbed the wall mount and left...

I see that Ireland (and I assume other countries) have a new firmware update today.

The fact that there is no notification on the UK page, probably suggests that we arent getting it…

This is strange for UK..! There is a notification on the greek site also...

I expect all the Irish are now trying to get their TV's working again after the update...
Will be interesting to see what the results are...
