2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

 

 

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. 2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

 

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. 4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

 

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Fyi Channel list imported is messed up after restarting the TV, so don't bother trying to export it. Steps: - export current channel list to USB - edit file on PC using Sony tool - save edited file on USB - imported channel list on TV - TV restarted automatically - TV guide is update but after restarting again, the list changes, removed channels appears...

To be fair, Sony demonstrated the range at CES 2015 in February. With all the power of a multinational company, I just can't see how it can take 13 Months to develop software to provide PAP and HDD rec. It should have been sold finished. What is even worse Sony Customer Service rang me yesterday, and gave me an assurance that the missing features would definitely be available before 24th December 2015. OK they have had setbacks and want to get a stable platform before adding more, but the timescales are just wrong. The sets will be out of warranty before they are complete. Sent from my iPad

Hi Frogger, I see we are still locked out of the forum & support area. I believe this must be deliberate and when service is restored all the critical comments will have vanished. Will the fact that the support.sony.co.uk area is offline affect tomorrows update, certainly if anyone has trouble with the update they will not be able to access support.

Be patient guys, I just rebooted my TV and I finished testing the export/edit/import of digital and sat TV channels, it works until the TV with apparently no reasons starts changing it. Tomorrow I'll run new tests, it may be due to some of those incomprehensible setting such auto update services.

Are Sony doing ANYTHING about the fact we cannot log into 'My Sony' or these forums? My TV is just updating, and we will struggle to give feedback... is this what is wanted?
