Viewing a programme if I use remote or if there is a change of feed or source such as a commercial I get sometimes a black banner dropping down saying HDMI2 or suchlike. No luck with Sony own experts. Any ideas folks
Hi @aljones98
Depending on your TV model number and software version you can simply turn it off as a work a round.
Settings/Watching TV/Info Banner/On/Off
If this is the correct solution please mark it as such for other users and give me some Kudos!!👍
Hi Kudos,
thanks for that but I’m not clear what you mean by turn it off as a work around. The TV is a KD-49XG8396. I wonder if you could clarify for me as I’m not a techi. Much appreciate your assistance. Allan
This isn't a workaround, this is how you do it. Oh and I'm eskimosony not Kudos, Kudos is something you give👍
Press the settings button on the remote, then click on Watching TV, then choose Info Banner then with the switch in the right toggle it off (just click on it)
Hi @aljones98
It is a work a round because it should not appear when a commercial appears. It is a bug in the software that Sony haven't fixed in over 5 years!
Using your TV remote, press HOME, find Settings (normally top right next to the time). Select this then select Watching TV. Then go down to Info banner and disable it.
I would make sure that you are running the latest software v6.7165
Firmware update to v6.7165 | Sony UK
Edit: I may have to retract my Sony hasn't fixed it yet. Looking at the software benefits for v6.7165
"Resolves an issue where an information banner appears randomly while watching content through HDMI connected devices"
I robooted/Updated the software on TV and the Info banner is now showing on the Watching TV so now switched off Info banner and no interruptions any more so very happy. Allan
ps It's pity Sony couldn't tell me this some months ago when it first started.
Thanks Yes. I rebooted/updated the software on the TV and the Info Banner is now showing on Watching TV so Info banner now switched off and no interruptions any more so very happy.
Thanks again for your help. Regards Allan
ps It's a pity Sony couldn't tell me this when I took it up with them some months ago.
