I have a KD55X8505c which got stuck into the often mentioned reboot loop. This happened after I tried a factory reboot to ensure Netflix was working. According to Sony this was my fault and it was out of warranty (the TV is 3 1/2 years old and cost €1300)
After taking it in for repair the upshot is I need a new motherboard (total cost €476). Any advice on whether to do this, or bite the bullet and buy another TV would be gratefully recieved..
Has anyone else had this done? Is there a good chance that another Android TV update will brick the tv again?
I guess a better specced new TV 55 inch I could get hold of for around €800, which would mean it would work properly for at least 2 years, plus I would get better tech and away from flaky Android TV.
Repairing the TV would still probably be cheaper and less of a waste though.
Cheers!
IMHO I would not spend 476€ on a 2015 55" lcd TV ....
You are right of course. Sunk cost. Move on!
