I bought this tv a KD-49XG8096 TWO WEEKS AGO replacing my smart lg 32" due to my wife's eyes, regretfully i bought this tv, i have tried to sort out the problems ever since.
i have noticed no one from Sony look at this site due to the amount of complaints and no advice, i bought it from Currys who just sold me it with two pages of english instructions, and know nothing how to sort out these problems
1st fault
usb will not set up although i have tried format through laptop using fat32/ntfs/fat, after following the tv instructions it says formatted but i cannot use it, as it says unplug it wait 5 mins then try again
2nd
any app other than on screen via google play, i try to log in only to say Browser app may not be secure, use chrome BUT i cannot download chrome because it wont let me open up my account although i have installed it via mobile phone.
3rd
i have used various smart tv's android windows and linux over the years and this is the worst smart tv i have ever used
4th
connecting through peer to peer devices does not work
LAST OF ALL sometimes i switch the tv off and it does not start back up, only way to get the tv back on is unplug it and plug it back in
My thoughts of Sony WAS this is the best equiptment you can buy for the money NOW after trying out the new smart tv, i wish i stuck with LG the smart side of the tv is exellent, no restrictions of what you can do to the smart side of the tv, i tried the first download on this tv was (downloader) which LG lets you with this you can use it for everything to do with android, this tv blocks that and it seems everything else stating (FILE CANNOT BE OPENED)
Hi @wishiboughtanlg If the TV is only two weeks old then you should be speaking to the Retailer and if they cannot sort out your concerns then you should get your money back and go for what you are used to, a LG TV?
You should note that a XG80 is a value entry level Sony Android TV.
I have the same issue with the TV not switching back on.
Also I use an aerial to get signal and when I use any of the apps such as Netflix, Amazon or even other streaming apps, when I return to watch TV the screen goes black but I can still see the guide.
Sometimes the TV actually freezes if it can't get the image forcing me to switch it off on the mains
Unfortunately my warranty already run out and my TV is a KD-55XE9005
At £500 i could have bought two tv's of the budget type makes and they did not have the comments (checking the faults pages) i am glad i spent no more s it would have been a more expensive sony only to find the same problems looking at the comunity. sony.co.uk. I must admit the picture is supurb But everything else seems to be ? instead of swearing which i have been doing at the tv 20 mins after going to bed, it came back on itself NO timer was set or touched
