I have recently purchased a Bravia KD49XE8005 and am having problems with the volume level. Sometimes when I change TV channels the volume increases significantly and I have to turn it down.
It's particularly bad/annoying when switching between videos in YouTube.
I have another Bravia Android TV which is fine and keeps a constant volume level.
Has anyone else had problems? I'm wondering whether the TV is faulty.
Hi TXTPC1,
probably your previous TV had an adaptive audio setting, which adjusted the output volume to a constant level.
Either your new TV doesn't have a similar setting, or it is deactivated.
TV channels as well as YouTube videos can vary in their volume.
On YouTube that depends on the person which made the video, on TV it more depends on the audio format (dolby digital or just stereo audio), since IIRC TV stations have signed a contract a few years ago to match their audio levels.

@TXTPC1 You may have to play with the sound settings. Although, after an old Android update, I had that issue with HDMI inputs only on my 49XD8099 (previous year model). One thing you may try is to reset the Sound Settings to factory values (there is the option to reset only the Sound. Same for the picture settings).
YouTube videos, as @IamNic says, may indeed change the internal volume level in their audio. You see that in the "Stats for Nerds". But it should be only few decibels, I usually don't notice much difference.
