E5 randomly shut off and will not start

I was listening to Spotify and it buzzed and it clicked off. It will not start back up again but if I put in the charge a red light comes on.... leave it awhile and it will not start up still

Having had a z3 in the past I am used to there being a red or a yellow button that can be used to reset but cannot locate anything similar on this phone ... if it exists or is of any use. Any help would be really appreciated as I've never had this problem before

Hi @Newbyxxx, sorry to hear about this.

The Xperia E5 is not equipped with a OFF button like some of our other devices and I'd recommend that you press and hold the volume up and power button for 10 seconds. You should now receive 3 short vibrations and you can either try powering your phone on again or start to charge it using a wall socket.

If you still can't power it on, leave it to charge for 3-4 hours > repeat the process with power button and volume up and try powering it on again!

Let me know how it went!

Hi again!

Oh, I see. Slightly_frowning_Face

In this case, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will delete all data stored on the internal storage of the phone and reinstall the latest available software. That way we can see if the software is the cause of this.

Since you can't power on the phone and unlock the SIM lock and/or screen lock a backup will not be possible to create. Slightly_frowning_Face

If there is no change after the software repair has been completed, your device will need to be examined at an authorized service centre and your Local support team will assist you further, so please get in touch with them if needed. They will also answer any questions that you may have regarding warranty, local service routines and so forth.

Keep me posted!
