Save as bookmark function on Chrome

Hi all,

This may sound trivial compared to other threads I see on here, but I need to know why I can't save a page as a bookmark, ie the bookmark/favourite button seems to be missing frm my Chrome web pages.  Am I missing something simple?  I didn't have any problems with importing bookmarks from my PC/Firefox browser (it happened automatically), but can't get new pages registered.

Thanks,

Ian

Hi again C,

Just for the record, on my Xperia, the star doesn't appear on the header line, as it would in full-size Chrome.  It appears (now I've looked for it) on the top of the page when I click the three dots.  On a page I haven't already bookmarked, it appears just in outline.  On a page I've already bookmarked, it's filled in in blue.  Simple, really.

What made things a bit more difficult than they otherwise would have been is that the user manual only refers to bookmarks in passing.

Thanks again,

Ian

Hi @IanPRSY, sorry to hear this.

The bookmark/favourite icon should be present in the shape of a star if you press the three dots in the upper right corner when you're browsing a website through Chrome. After tapping the star the message "bookmarked" should appear at the bottom of the display.

Let me know if this doesn't match what you see on your device.

Hi C,

Thanks for that.  The problem I have is that the star is missing.  All I see across the top of the page, L to R, is the Home button, the address box, a square with the number of open tabs and the three dots.  If I change to kandscape, all that happens is that the address box gets wider.

If, whist in a page, whether an existing bookmarked page or a new one, if I hit the three dots, I get a list of options that includes bookmarks.  When I hit that, I get the existing list only.  I do remember seeing the screen you mention at some point, but can't get it back.

Edit 1# That said, I just did a test.  I used Bing to select a web page I'd not seen before.  When I hit the three dots this time, I got a menu with the option to "add as bookmark".  So what am I doing wrong?

Edit 2# I just had a thought.  I deleted all the open tabs and started again.  This time I got the option to save as a bookmark when I hit the three dots.  Is this where I was going wrong?

Thanks,

Ian

As far as I know the amount of open tabs shouldn't remove the icon to add a bookmark. I did realize though that it is possible to scroll that menu down so that the bookmark icon disappears out of view. Maybe this is what caused the confusion since it isn't too obvious that it is possible to scroll. Never the less, I'm glad to hear that it appeared in the end. Slightly_smiling_Face
