Transfering from camcorder to PC

Is it possible for me to transfer my taped videos to my lap top? I have a Sony CCD_218E, Hi8 camera.

If it is, exactly what do I need please?

Thank you

Hi Condover.

I assume you have a CCD-TRV218E camera?

If so, this is an analogue Hi8 camera and you will need a converter to change the A/V to the digital format needed by your PC.

Do you still have the original A/V connecting cable shown on Page 123 of your User Guide that you can download from here: -

It has a Yellow video plug and a black mono audio plug connected to a 3.5mm jack plug.  You can use this to connect directly to a VCR Tape Recorder but you will need something like this to capture the output digitally on your computer.  Prices range from £5 to £250 and some come with editing and DVD burning software.

You pays your money ........................... The more expensive ones also come with better software but you can use third-party software with a cheaper device.

Just a hint.  When transferring from your camera, choose 'EDIT' and connect the mono audio jack to the white input.

Good Luck!
