Hello,
I bought yesterday a Sony HT CT80 Soundbar for my KD 55XE7096 TV.
I plugged it in to the analog 3.5 jack to my TV.
The problem is that after some time the Soundbar automatically turns off.
No idea why this is happening.
Could you please help so i don't have to return it to the store i bought it from...?
Thank you,
Bill
Hi @97745235 and welcome to the Community
Does this happen after about 15 minutes?
I believe the sound bar will turn off by itself if the speaker is not receiving an audio signal after 15 minutes.
This can occur if the sound is muted or the volume is turned down on the source device too.
Also it could mean that the sound bar may be faulty.
Its probably best to contact Sony Support about this on:

Hi jumpsuit,
Thank you for your response.
i don't if it happens precisely every 15 minutes but i will check it.
The volume is turned to the max on the source device but on the tv is on 15%.
I will try to reduce the volume on the source and turn up the TV because as you say it might not detect a strong audio signal from the TV and thus turn off.
I will try also to plug it with an optical cable.
Hi again
You're welcome
Fingers crossed for you.
Hello again,
seems like that i found an answer to my problem.
I connected the optical cable that came with the soundbar and disconected the 3.5" audio cable.
That means that compared to the 3.5" audio connection (headphone jack), i cannot adjust the audio with one remote but the signal is stronger and thus even in low volumes the soundbar does not turn off.
Also, that means that you can have audio both from TV speakers and the soundbar if you want.
I have turned off the sound from the TV speakers (from the TV settings) and audio only goes through the soundbar.
In the end my suggestion is to connect the soundbar via optical cable. If this soundbar had an HDMI Arc connection i think there wouldn't be any problem at all...
Hope you find my solution helpful.
Thank you.
