cd/dvd player - popcorn but no picture

new cd/dvd sr760h - hooked up to Sony TV - new HDM cable.  Hooked up properly or appears to be.

Up on the TV screen came

hdm1

hdm 2

etc

Choose hdm1 symbol and nothing happens.......no start up screen

so put in DVD - nothing

the tv simpley shows in top right a box with arrow pointing to Hdm1.

Can someone help.  I have my popcord and movie but cannot get the darn thing to work.

Hi,

may we have a little more information, tv model etc, recheck the HDMI cable connection again, if it still wont work in HDMI 1 then try HDMI 4, if HDMI control is set to on then with the tv on, turn on the DVD player, the tv should switch automatically to that input, its as simple as that.

I know it is late. We gave up so will try again tomorrow.  Thank you for answering

I don't see any hdmi4.  I only can see two areas to plug in the cable and they are marked HDMI1 or 2.

Cable brand new and cannot see any fault with the cable.

I will have a go tomorrow after work.
