Windows 7 USB Driver for Digital 8 Handicam?

Can't find a driver to connect my DCR-TRV285E to my new Windows 7 Home Premium laptop via USB.

Camera works fine on my old XP system.

Windows 7 says no driver - contact Sony.

Sony website just has iLink driver for Windows 7 but my new laptop only has USB ports.

Hi there are no drivers for Vista or Windows 7, they best and only connection is i-link for these 2 OS, you will get far better quality video from your tapes using i-link anyway

Hi,

i believe the O P does not have i link on their laptop so connection in this way is impossible

I would keep your old XP system for this purpose.

You can always transfer it to your new laptop later.

Hi thank you both for your input, regardless of i-link or not the best video for DV (Digital Video), there are USB convertors available for USB 2 or 3, which will allow i-link to connect, i believe there is upto 4 x quality difference between USB downconversion on the Sony handycams and the i-link connection, plenty of work arounds for modern computers which can now handle DV transfer without frame loss, good luck
