A way to bypass standby mode to TURN ON tv (screen) from Smart plug

Hi, need help.

Basically, i own a KDL-55W29B TV model from 2014.

I've just bought myself a smart plug socket (lightwave gen2). I've pluged the tv into this. The smart socket works/connects to Alexa so i've programed alex to turn on the power for that socket then turn on the TV.  Only problem is, when i do this, the TV just goes into standby mode. Is there a way to bypass this (to turn it on)? So that when the power turns on it goes straight on. There must be but i cant finger it out!

please help!

Thank you so much!

Hi @johnnylvg

It may have been better to spend your money on a Harmony Hub. When I say “Alexa, turn on the TV” it turns my TV on, changes the input to HDMI3, turns the soundbar with input to HDMI1 and turns on Sky Q. “Alexa, turn off the TV” switches everything off. I have several other choices like “Alexa, turn on freeview”, TV on, Input Digital, soundbar on, Input TV.  etc. etc.

Only guessing but hoping a TV will turn on fully from the power socket is very unlikely. Imagine everybody’s TV turning on after a power cut.

Hi @johnnylvg. Assuming that you missed an “8” from TV model number KDL-55W829B it is fully supported by the Harmony Hub. https://support.myharmony.com/en-us/compatibility

I use an Elite Remote with my Hub but it does work with Alexa without one. As this is a Sony forum it may be best to head over to the Harmony forum for further help. https://support.logitech.com/en_gb/home
