DVD RW aw-g170a

I have this Disk Drive inside my MESH PC. I don't have a VAIO PC, but this PC has a Sony dvd rw aw-g170a disk drive. It has stopped working, it will only recognise some disks and some it just won't even realise they are inside the drive. I need help with the Sony disk drive.

I assume that you have tried cleaning the laser lens?

This is a rebadged Optiarc AD7170A and at your own risk you could try a firmware update – I stress AT YOUR OWN RISK.
