Fresh install of Windows 7 - error driver missing

Fresh install of Windows 7 - error driver missing

Doing a fresh install of Win 7 from a CD of Win7.

The HDD was in a computer I bought but they wiped the HDD (in a way unknown to me) so I need to do a fresh install of Win 7.

All went swimingly upto the "install now" page when it came up with an error message.

"A required CD/DVD drive is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive please insert it now."

I'm not sure what the issue is here or how to get past it. I haven't had this issue with "new" hard disks fresh out of the factory, so is a driver required on the HDD and if so what software can I use to get it set back to factory settings.

If its a CD drive driver, how did it work upto the point of "install now"?

Any help gratefully recieved.

Hi Badger0007,

I'm not sure I got this right. Have you bought a new HDD and installed it to your VAIO? Also, what are the first 8 digits of the serial number of the VAIO that you have? Could you explain more the situation?

Cheers,
