help needed

i put my laptop on this morning and it cam up with "computer wont start" and proceeded to a preinstalled startup recovery mode. however after running this particular thing for over 10 hours it didnt do anything. i pressed f8 to look at other options ie safe mode etc but nothing works i do not have a back up disc can some one please advise as no one around till at least tuesday
