How can I retrieve a deleted item

Is it possible to retrieve something I have deleted which is also not in the wastebasket?

This can depend on whether the file has been overwritten but there is free software that can recover deleted files.

Try Undelete 360 or Google 'recover deleted files'.

I have had my own experience on this. First thing you need to do is not to save or delete files on your computer since it will decrease your chances of recovering those files.

There are tons of free softwares like suggested above. Make to to have your security on when exploring other ones.
