I have a Sony VAIO VPCCW2S1E, previously it worked fine by using the Fn + F5/F6 keys to adjust the brightness, but now when I press them the brightness scale pops up on the screen but can only move it one bar up and down and so cannot adjust my screen brightness at all. Does anyone know how to fix it? Or is there an alternative way to adjust it through control panel etc?
Thanks
Hi whitrks and welcome.
What version Graphics Driver do you have installed? Have you updated it and did this coincide with the problem starting?
It may be worth reinstalling the original Sony Utilities to see if this fixes the problem. Try reinstalling: -
Sony Shared Library
Setting Utility Series
VAIO Event Service
Fron the Preinstalled Section on the download website for your model here: -

Alternatively, you should be able to adjust the screen brightness in Windows 7. Go to Control Panel -> Power Options and you should see a brightness slider at the bottom of the Power Options window.
Hi. Were there any changes made on this notebook before this issue. System restore(Not OS reload) could be an option if the above suggestions wont resolved it.
