laptop camcorder ilink

I Have a camcorder DCR-TRV33E, tried linking to laptop PCG-GRT915M via firewire ilink, does not recognise device, is there any special camcorder software i should have?

Any thoughts much appreciated, have also tries on partners laptop same spec to no avail.

have you made sure the camcorder is switched to VCR mode?

If it is set to camera or OFF, the computer will not recognise it.


Sony computers with DVD drives come with Click to DVD which is easy to use (but you cannot buy the software).

plenty of software solutions out there that should suffice.

Try this as well....

Switch on laptop, go in as administrtaor.
Then plug in and turn on your camera - it should be picked up and relevant drivers installed.

I've got the same TRV33e camera and it gts picked up fine through my iLink port (even when it goes through my external firewire HDD enclosure).
