can anyone advise me my laptop will not will read any cds

Which Vaio model do you have?

Is the drive recognised in My Computer?

Does the drive read and play DVDs as opposed to CDs

Is there a warning symbol and error code against the device in Device Manager? (Control Panel > Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM Drives)

Has the drive worked correctly in the past?

worked perfect before borrowed 2 friend never worked after it dont read anything never before had any probs

dont have any warning or error codes but cant do test on as wont read any disc just tryin 2 c anything can do before bring 2 shop as know 2 many comp rip off shops

As you say that there are no error messages against the drive in Device Manager the only suggestion I can make is to try cleaning the laser lens with a proprietary cleaner – ask your local PC shop for advice.
