Sony Notebook loss of 1 Ram module

I have a Sony notebook PCG-GRV616G which recently appeared to lose one of the 256MB Ram modules.After swapping them round and trying all permutaions no differance.A restore did,nt help .Only thing I have,nt tried is the total restore.Anybody else had this problem.I am now working with a 1x512MB in,.

Thanks for the info from all the correspondance this problem seems quite usual and I will contact Sony about this.
