Vaio front audio jacks no longer working after windows 7 SP1 update

My sony vaio (VPCEB3JOE) running Windows 7 was recently updated with Service Pack 1. Since then my front audio jacks have ceased to work and no longer appear in the recording devices. Curiously though, sound from the speakers can be shut off when a jack plug is inserted. Does anyone know how this can be rectified? I seem to have tried everything suggested in various on-line forums, but they are not specific for the Vaio.

Have you tried reinstalling the original audio driver from here:

If that has no effect you could try rolling back SP1.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the Audio re-installation and it doesn't correct the problem. I don't especially want to roll-back the SP1 update, but maybe I'll have to resort to it if I can't find a solution. From the number of other computers that seem to be affected in this way by one or other windows updates I think it might be a problem that Microsoft might eventually patch for, but in the meantime I've ordered a new USB soundcard .....

Thanks again, theawilhelmina
