Vaio GRT DVD rom problem

Hi all

I have the sony GRT 815E model laptop purchased one and half year ago. Recently my DVD rom is not working, when i put any DVD its not reading anymore, normal cd works fine only problem with the DVD's.
Can anybody advice me is it problem with the hardware?

Hi Ramesh, and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately this is probably a hardware problem.
However, there are a few things that you can try:
1.Download any available firmware updates for your optical drive from Vaio-Link.
2.Try cleaning the laser lens with a proprietary cleaner.
3.Uninstall the drive in Device Manager, re-boot and let Windows discover and install the device.

If none of the above work it looks as though you need a new drive:smileysad:

Reinstall Nero if you're using it too, it's ASPI can get messed up
