My Vaio which I have had from new is working fine, but just in case I would like to create a set of restore discs, gone for the 3 x DVD-R option.
It wrote DVD 1 of 3 no problem. When I stuck the second DVD blank in to continue the restore programme stopped responding.
I have tried to start again but it now comes up with an error message "minimum required disk space: 8936MB" and does not allow me to go further.
I know I should have done this when it was new but surely it should still work now, everything else works fine on it and restoring via the partition still works as it should.
Any ideas what I can do next?
Hi ivrbol83,
Yes, the creation of recovery media should work at any stage but Vaio CD/DVD drives can be very fussy about the media. Try a different manufacturer – I have always found both Verbatim and Sony DVD’s to be reliable.
Also check the support site for any firmware updates for the drive.

Thanks for the media suggestion but it isn't that it doesn't write the discs or doesn't like them (it had no problem with disc 1 which was the same), the program itself just stops responding.
I can't see the type of media affecting the software?
Just to add, I am using TDK blanks that this vaio has burned untold times in the past without a single coaster
Hi ivribol83,
If you are unprepared to try a different brand of media, and I can assure you that this has worked (on occasions) for other members, then try uninstalling any other burning software that didn’t come pre-installed or restore the system back to factory defaults in order to rule out any software conflict.
