I have the WWAN set up and working fine with an S series Vaio, so have no problems with internet and SMS. Is there any way of using the PC to make voice calls using the inserted SIM? I don't want VOIP, but want to use my usual mobile number, free minutes, etc. without having to take the SIM out and stick in a phone (or indeed avoid missing calls when using the laptop). It seems daft to have a built-in SIM socket if I have to tether my phone instead.
Thanks,
Robin
I don't think you can unless there is some sort of third party software which recognises that hardware and can do what you asking.
I know with some external mobile dongles, you can actually recieve and send texts but I've never seen any able to make calls.
Your best bet is to take out a separate data plan for your laptop if you want to have to keep taking out the sim card, this is what I've done and it ony costs me £5 a month. Otherwise, thether your phone, as you suggested.
